Did you know that our school uses text notifications to keep you informed of ongoing activities, school assessments, grading windows and more?!?!  Follow the directions below to get signed up to make sure you are connected to what is going on with everything Riverwood!  [Notifications available in English and Spanish].

Our dedicated counselors are here to assist you with finding your way here at Riverwood and to resolve any academic or emotional concerns you may have during this time of transition.  Counselors can help with schedule changes,  teacher meetings, academic concerns or questions regarding specific programs (IB, AP, CTAE) and graduation requirements, managing resources related to personal issues and by working as a partner to get you the help you need to be successful while here at Riverwood.

Counselors are assigned by your student's last name and will remain consistent through each year here at Riverwood as you move toward graduation.  The alphabetical breakdown is below:

The Media Center offers a variety of services and options for students needing help with work, resources for projects, research or application assistance, printing assignments or just simply a quiet place to catch up on work. Students may come to the media center at any time with a pass from a teacher, when done with work early in class, when needing a quieter space to focus on work, when collaborating with other students to complete projects, when desiring a private space to hold a virtual meeting or during lunch when they prefer not to go to the lunchroom to eat.  Students who come to the media center during lunch do not need a pass if coming immediately at their lunch dismissal only. 

The Media Center also houses an elaborate Makerspace which provides students an opportunity to explore and create utilizing various equipment and resources funded by our PTSA and Riverwood Foundation. Students are encouraged to these explore tools not readily available to most in their everyday environment to foster their creativity and potential abilities not yet discovered. Resources and equipment available to students in these spaces include but are not limited to:

Riverwood High School offers a wide variety of intramural sports as part of its athletic program, as well as various physical education courses to help strengthen our students beyond their mental abilities.  Personal fitness, weight training and team sports are amongst a few. Sports teams vary from season to season but include the following:

Academic Assistance is available at a variety of times for many different courses by your student's teachers as well as through after school extended learning, peer tutoring, online assistance, and in our math and writing centers based on your student's individual needs. The math and writing centers are located just outside of the school cafeteria, and trained student helpers are available each day during 3rd period.  The Math center is available on A Days, and the writing center is available on B days for extra help for your student.

Individual teacher's office hours for extended classroom help can be found HERE.  Student's must schedule time with teachers outside of class time for extra help. Students are also encouraged to reach out to other teachers who also teach that subject in order to receive additional assistance if needing another approach or different hours of availability. 

Students may also attend extended learning each Monday and Wednesday afternoon until 6:00pm in the four core subject areas, but this is done through ongoing support with Mrs. Mary Schmidt our graduation coach. Extended learning began on September 16 and runs to the first week of December. Second semester extended learning will be available from January through April. Interested families should email Mrs. Schmidt to register at schmidtml@fultonschools.org.  

The college and career center provides students with a number of resources that can help them guide their path to their future, including some of these:

• Individual Help to Schedule College Visits and Attend Meetings here w College Reps.
• Complete a future career survey and skill inventory.
• Help you complete your financial aid documents, FAFSA and locate possible scholarships & grants for funding.
• Locate school programs that align with your current career interests, help to complete college application requirements and to make you aware of common deadlines for admission.

Our technology support office is located in the back right corner of the school media center and is available for assistance with your school issued device between the hours of 8:30-9:30 and 11:30-2pm.  Student must first report to class and get a pass from their teacher to come for help.  New Students can come during these hours to get their new school issued device after 48 hours of attending classes on site, at which time their information will be available across most digital platforms within our system.

All technology issues do require a SERVICE TICKET to be submitted for help.  Students can complete this by scanning the code below with their phones or clicking HERE using their SAML Single Sign-on (Blue Text) to authenticate their identity.  A service ticket must be submitted before work can be done so completing this first can help to expedite service of their school device. District Tech support can also be provided by calling (470)254-4357.

As much as we want your student to be at school, we ask that you keep sick students at home. Upon their return, please bring printed documentation to make the day an excused absence in our system, or email Ms. Williams in our attendance office with your excuse at williamsjh1@fultonschools.org.  It is also recommended that students email teachers to let them know they are absent, and to check Canvas for any assignments and missed work from class.

If leaving early,  please plan to pick up your child after 11:55am (after end of second block) whenever possible.  It is Fulton County Schools’ policy that students picked up before 11:55am will be marked absent.  Students may not be signed out of school after 3pm.
