Riverwood’s Culinary Arts instructor, Chef Elissa Oliver has won the Georgia ProStart Teacher of the Year for 2022.

Marco Nuñez is just a sophomore student at Riverwood International Charter School, but he already has won the 2022 Latino Athlete Most Valuable Player Award and scholarship. Telemundo Atlanta, The Atlanta Braves and Barrios Virguez Law Firm recently presented Nuñez with a $5,000 scholarship at SunTrust Park.

Five Riverwood International Charter School students will represent the school at the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State weekend. Two students from band, two from chorus and one orchestra student have earned this distinction. The event takes place March 3 to 5, at The Classic Center in Athens.

Riverwood International Charter School recognized five distinguished alumni as part of its 50th anniversary celebration this year, inducting them virtually and in-person at the school on March 4. These alumni include Becky Albertalli, Joe Alterman, Kate Bedingfield, Lieutenant Commander Cary Rickoff, and Wintta Woldemariam.
