AVID is a college-readiness program designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. It is already established in many Fulton County high schools, where it has increased both graduation rates and the number of college-bound students.
With high dropout rates among students in the academic middle, The Riverwood Foundation supports Ms. Smith, the Administration, and the Faculty as they take steps to increase Riverwood’s graduation rate and help all students excel. Thanks to funding from the Foundation https://riverwoodfoundation.org/and a generous grant from the Sandy Springs Society AVID training and implementation began in 2014. Since then, more than 250 (as of May, 2024) students in grades 9-12 have participated participate in the AVID program.
